Music for Youth presents cellist James Kim and Emerging Artist Harry Tao

Come join us for a beautiful afternoon of music with cellist James Kim and Emerging Artist Harry Tao.
This concert is open to the public. Donations are accepted at door, and registration is encouraged.
Lauded by The New York Times for his “admirable purity of tone and accuracy,” James Kim has appeared as soloist with the Boston Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, Wallonie Royal Chamber, and Juilliard Orchestras working with conductors such as David Zinman, Michael Sanderling, Alexander Shelley, Keith Lockhart, Frank Braley, Tan Dun, Julian Kovatchev, and Benjamin Zander onstage at Carnegie Stern Auditorium, Boston Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, and Metropolitan Museum of Art. Winner of the 2006 David Popper International Cello Competition and 2012 Salon de Virtuosi’s Sony Career Grant, Kim is a laureate of the 2015 Isang Yun International Cello Competition and 2024 Naumburg International Cello Competition. He holds an Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Manhattan School of Music. Kim currently serves as Assistant Professor of Cello at University of Georgia’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music.
Harry Tao is a 10th grader at Wilton High School in Wilton, CT. Harry has many awards for numerous competitions, including 1st place in the 2023 Hamden Symphony Orchestra’s Young Musicians Concerto Competition, 1st place in the 2023 Danbury Symphony Orchestra Student Concerto Competition, First Prize Winner in the 2023 VIVO International Music Competition, 3rd place in the 2024 International Grand Music Competition, Silver Prize winner in the 2022 International Young Artists Solo Competition, Finals in the 47th Hartford Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition, 2nd place in the 2024 Marianne Liberatore Instrumental Competition, and the 2nd place winner in the 2022 American Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition.
